Privacy policy

What we collect

We use GoatCounter, a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics tool, to see aggregate traffic — page views, referrers, and which buttons get clicked. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't fingerprint your device, and doesn't track you individually — we only see totals, never per-visitor data. Consensus itself still has no backend: your API key and data never touch our servers.

What your API provider sees

When you run an analysis, your browser sends the video title, category, and a filtered sample of comments directly to the LLM provider you configured (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google). That exchange is governed by your chosen provider's own privacy policy, not ours.

What stays on your device

• Your API key
• Your analysis history and dashboard data
• Any learned guidance rules you've built up

All of it lives in your browser's local extension storage. It is never synced to us and never leaves your machine except in the direct request described above.

Other third parties

If you use the optional cross-check feature, a search query goes to Reddit's public API to look up related discussion. No account or login needed.
